Angel of Goliad – Francisca Alvarez – Texas Revolution
The Angel of Goliad Society provides this Texas Historical information web page to the public for educational purposes. It focuses on the Angel of Goliad’s involvement in the Texas Revolution and helps those with interest in knowing more about the Angel of Goliad, otherwise known as Francisca Alvarez. It is intended to answer the questions: Who was the Angel of Goliad, why was she such a mystery, and who are her descendants?
Within this web page, we will also provide various stories about the men who were killed and the young men who survived during the Goliad Massacre on March 1836 because of the heroic actions of the Angel of Goliad.
The AOG Society is actively pursing members and friends to join the society to help us keep the memory of Francisca Alvarez alive well into the 21st century. We will be announcing events during the year and will post the activities there after as soon as we can. There will be events scheduled throughout the year such as the Goliad Massacre Reenactment at Presidio La Bahia fort in Goliad, Tx, a descendant reunion in Kingsville, Texas and the King Ranch Breakfast at the King Ranch. Please go to our News and Events pages for more information.
Thank you!

The Harold Babin Jessen mural is entitled “Pageant of Texas,” created with funding from the Public Works of Art Project in the 1930s and is currently located within the walls of the museum in Mission of Nuestra Señora del Espíritu Santo de Zuñiga, at the Goliad State Park and Historic Site. This mural once hung at the Texas State Capitol building. In the original painting at Goliad State Park mission you can see were Jessen painted himself at the right bottom of the painting.
